Nature’s Incredible Ice Sculptures
The Ice Caves are formed by continual avalanches and melting ice. It is amazing how the caves are geometrically shaped from the melting process. The ceilings are approximately twelve to fifteen feet in height - Much larger than the illusion in the photographs. When Ice falls from the ceilings it comes down in tons rather than pounds. This makes it extremely dangerous to enter and hike in the caves (every now and then a stupid photographer will risk going inside).

Coming into the clearing, when approaching the caves, one feels the temperature dropping. My first visit to the ice caves was on a 90 degree August day. I laid a thermometer on a rock and explored the caves. When I came back for my thermometer it read 56 degrees. If you ever visit the Pacific Northwest you owe it to yourself to visit this incredible natural wonder.
