Etched by ancient glaciers, the Columbia Gorge hosts thousands of visitors all year round. Lined with streams, waterfalls and shear cliffs this ecological wonder is home to many rain forest botanical species. It is awesome to see ferns growing out of solid granite. One can truly become mesmerized by viewing the natural cycle of life in the Gorge.
The opening photos are of Vista House atop a shear cliff overlooking the Columbia Gorge. If you watch the movie, “Bandits” starring Bruce Willis and Billy Bob Thornton, you will notice that the Vista House is the back drop for the scene right after the first bank robbery. The first bank robbery was filmed here in Silverton, Oregon at the intersection of Main and Water Streets.
Just up the road is the Timberline Lodge. Timberline was the backdrop for, “The Shining” starring Jack Nicholson. Watch for the photo of the ax used in the movie.
